Ballasting, ballasting, and ballasting ...

Following on my spring cleaning and some ballast issues, I decided to fix those as well as finishing up on ballasting around the double-slip switch D2. As of now, all painted tracks have been ballasted!

Ok, I still need to finishing the center of the double slip ....

Streets and buildings outline - part 7

Now that the outline of the various buildings are drew on the platform, it gives me an idea about how much I have for the other side.

A while back, I purchased a set of houses from Regions & Companies:

Alignement de 5 Maisons du Nord - réf QNO001-F

I started building this kit. For now, I found a certain lack of instructions. I think it will be fine from afar, but maybe not up close.

Streets and buildings outline - part 6

I'm almost done with ballasting the area in the back, so I need to think about where I'd need to put the scenery divider. To do that, I need to know how things are positioned on the front part.

First, I cleaned up the layout, then I placed the map where it should fit:

At that point, with a small screwdriver and a hammer, I marked every line intersection to go through the paper. Then I traced the outlines directly on the layout.

I'm quite happy with the outcome because I can fit the all area without squeezing anything; except the fret hall and the road crossing on each end - which I knew.

Next step is to work on the scenery divider!

Added sleepers - the next day

I went back the next day and everything dried up nicely. Once weathered and ballasted, it'll be hardly visible.

Adding sleepers

I'm continuing my journey on adding missing sleepers. Here's the previous post with more explanations. And here's what I've done today on the layout:

So, good progress overall, but surprisingly I'm not done and need more pieces for what I have to still do. Luckily, I found a couple of tracks I could tear apart:
