Track weathering - part 5

 

For the last two tracks of this "test" section, I thought I would try the Brown wash - not the Dark Brown:

In the picture below, the track at the bottom received the Dark Brown and the one at the top just the Brown. I found it to be too light and switched back to the Dark Brown right after this small test:

Here are the six tracks: 4 with Dark Brown and 2 with Black:

As I'm waiting for my ballast from Arizona Rock and Mineral to come, I decided to prepare more sleepers to put back under the tracks where there are joiners or wires to DCC.

During the last test, I found that cutting the sleeper in 3 sections is the best option: fairly easy to position and still quite realistic:

So, I went on cutting sleepers for quite some time ...

Making progress!

I finished weathering all the tracks for that section:

Then I tried a Black wash and a Dark Brown wash from Vallejo:

On the picture below, the two tracks on the left got the Black was, the two tracks on the middle the Dark Brown, and the two on the right have yet to receive anything:

I do like the Dark Brown wash over the Black one ...
